Good morning my sisters-
Where is your heart today? My heart is in the eternal Word. I spent several hours in the Bible today and on the Internet trying to find out how long a cubit was and what month Aviv is in the Jewish Calendar. It's all so fascinating to research a different time and to gain knowledge.
I can remember when I graduated with my History degree and thought, "Well, I doubt I use all that research stuff again." And yet, I find myself delving into measurements and calendars. I also didn't know what the bread of Presence is? Do you? It's the bread that was baked that sat on the table in the temple. It is a light floured bread that is baked into 12 loaves and stacked 6 high. There you go, the fun fact of the day but I'm sure you're wondering what that has to do with the title of this post. It has everything to do with it.
The law was how people lived. They sacrificed animals, weren't allowed to go into places in the temple, couldn't touch the ark and spent their lives trying to fulfill the Ten Commandments. Fast forward to today where people have forgotten about those laws, think they can continually spend time away from God and live their lives exactly the way they want to. I am sometimes part of that group. I can make up excuses all day long. But when I watch the sun come up and I'm in the Word of God, I realize my excuses take me further from the beauty I so seek. In His presence I am one with Him. Whether it's driving down the highway praying or writing this blog after I have read something in the Bible, my time with Him is immeasurable, precious and is more fulfilling then anything else I could do in a day. Then again, often I'm not sitting reading, praying and worshipping Him. So how do I take what I know and how I feel and put it into a great package? I invest. It's like a 401K account. I'm saving for my future, the future of my family and the future of my grandchildren. I'm getting great advise, tons of wisdom and my investment always pays off.
How you might ask? Because when I am one with God, I see Him in all His glory. I find pieces of His character,of His direction and of His will in every portion of my life and in the Word. I begin to open my mind and heart to His presence and to His majesty. When I am thinking about Him, I am one with Him and He can lead me because I am in His will. If He wanted robots, He would have made them. He wanted people that desired a relationship with Him. So as I sit here and see the sun shining through my front door, I am so aware that He is with me. Was the law so God could judge? Maybe but it really was His way to direct His people. And when the law didn't work, He gave His only Son. Doesn't our God deserve our time, our heart and our prayers? Doesn't He deserve us to be one with Him daily? Our God is not full of rules and regulations, He's full of love, kindness, mercy, and grace. He forgives us even when we can't forgive ourselves. Life will never be easy but when we walk with Christ we can see His power, His love, His direction! There is nothing more powerful than being one with Him.
Today, I'm going to leave you with a Scripture that really caught me today. Did you know that God sent an angel to go before the Israelites? Well, He did. That's how much He loved His people.
“See, I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared. Pay attention to him and listen to what he says. Do not rebel against him; he will not forgive your rebellion, since my Name is in him. If you listen carefully to what he says and do all that I say, I will be an enemy to your enemies and will oppose those who oppose you. My angel will go ahead of you and bring you into the land of the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Canaanites, Hivites and Jebusites, and I will wipe them out. (Exodus 23:20-23 NIV)
