Is Christ enough?  Does He love us and are we His sheep?  I'm sure you have wondered this from time to time.  Especially when things aren't going your way.  It's hard to stay focused on if God's enough when you aren't getting what you want or what your heart most desires.  Isn't God supposed to feed you, water you and make you grow?  The answer is yes but life isn't about what we receive.  It's about what we are willing to give.

The world has this completely backwards.  Haven't you heard that you deserve better?  I have a million times and yet, I don't.  I deserve the will of God on my life, no matter what life throws at me and believe me it has thrown some curve balls in the last couple of years.  I deserve to look upon Christ and realize what He has done for my life.  And I definitely can choose to walk with Him, through the trenches of my life.  The one thing that I do know is that bad things happen to good people, that life isn't always fair, and that I serve an awesome God!

You can doubt my words and those of other Christians but tell me, when was the last time someone was willing to die for you?  Let's take it one step further, who are you willing to die for?  You probably answered someone that is close to you.  Possibly your husband, your children or a close relative or friend.  How about dying for the lost, the angry, the unloveable?  Could you do that?  Doubtful.  Why?  Because dying for someone else means sacrifice and we are wired for self-preservation.  Protect ourselves above all else, that's our motto.  I think that's why I am so facinated with soldiers.  They don't have to be US soldiers.  I'm talking about all soldiers.  Those that are willing to go off and fight wars they might not understand, all for the safety of their nations.  Facinating?  And still, their sacrifice, as great as it is, still doesn't measure to what Christ did for our lives.  He sacrificed for all and how do we repay Him, with grumbling, anger, depression and sin.  Crazy, right?

That's why I am so grateful for a God who loves us in spite of ourselves.  Who desires to be in relationship with us.  Christianity is not a religion!  Following Christ is a relationship.  I don't care if you're Catholic, Baptist, Methodist or any religion under the Christian umbrella.  If you have accepted Christ then the religion doesn't matter.  Living a Christian life is not determined by where you go to church, although I believe we need a body of believers and good teaching.  Its determined by our desire to be with Christ, to follow Him, to be in relationship with Him.  God desires a relationship with all of us and unfortunately, only a few will come.

We have the most wonderful Father, go to Him today and thank Him for His sacrifice.  At the end of this day, my prayer is that you will have said to Him at least once, "You are enough!"  "You are sufficient, You are Holy, and I am Yours!  Happy Independence Day to all of you in the states and for those of you far away, Happy Independence Day because Christ died for your freedom!

John 10:14-15 NKJV:

I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own.  As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep.

It doesn't get much better than that.  He knows us, we know Him and He layed His life down for you!  Have a beautiful day and may God reign wherever you are.

My prayer today:

O, Lord, You are mighty in my eyes.  I look toward the sun and the moon and it facinates me.  You made it perfect for all to see.  We are reminded in everything earthly that You are Lord.  We are Your chosen generation and we bow down to You in praise and petition.  Lift us up, O Lord, and make us mighty warriors for You.  Help others see that religion is not what You're about.  You want us to be in relationship with You, seeing that we are counted, and that You died for us.  I pray today that everyone reading this blog will say, at least once, You are enough!  We cry out to You and ask that our hearts and our wills will be aligned with Yours.  We don't deserve You and yet, we have You.  Help the lost find You, let them be counted as Your sheep.  Forever, allow us the ability to come before You, worshipping and petitioning for ourselves as well as others.  Raise up servants that will call You by name and that are brave.  We need the courage and strength of David.  We need to be counted as Your faithful workers like, Mary, Mary Magdelene, Ruth, Esther and Rahab.  Give us the power of the Holy Spirit today.  And always, thank You for the freedom of the cross. In Jesus name, AMEN

Until tomorrow...
